SOME HOWDY DOODY TRIVIA
- Bob Smith was Buffalo Bob Smith
- The original title of the show was "Puppet Playhouse"
- Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo!) played the original Clarabell, followed by Bobby Nicholson and Lew Anderson
- Chief Thunderthud played by Bill Le Cornec (Kowabunga!), also the voice of Dilly Dally
- Princess Summerfall Winterspring played by Judy Tyler and Linda Marsh
- Trapper Pierre was played by Robert Goulet!
- Claude Rae was the voice of Howdy as well as Phineas T Buster and Mr. Hex. In later episodes Jacqueline White was the voice of Howdy
- Do you remember there was a Heidi Doody? She was Howdy's sister
- Double Doody was Howdy's twin
- Remember these other characters? Flub-a-Dub (my favorite and made of 8 different animals), Corneilius Cobb (ran the general store), Captain Scuttlebutt, GUMBY??????, John J. Fadoozle (the purr-ivate eye).
- Clarabell did not speak but used a horn (and a seltzer bottle!) instead, until the last show when he said "Goodbye kids".
- Howdy Doody was the first show ever to hit the 2000 show mark
- James Doohan (Scotty of Star Trek fame) was originally cast as Timber Tom but salary demands led to the casting of Peter Mews.
- When Mews could not appear for the first week of the show he was temporarily replaced as host by William Shatner (Star Trek's Captain James T. Kirk) as Ranger Bob
