THE APRIL FOOL'S MARTINI
The joke's on you - it's NOT an Apple Martini!
Ingredients: Gin, Green Chartreuse, Maraschino Liqueur, Lime Juice, Apple Slice
It's April Fool's Day (All Fool's Day) and the whole object of this martini is to trick people into thinking it's an Apple Martini, but the only thing apple about this cocktail is the garnish!
Unlike the very sweet, vodka based Apple Martini, this gin martini gets it's green color from a very lovely herb based liqueur made by Monks!
Green Chartreuse is the active agent in your cocktail joke here. It's color is very similar to apple pucker but - oh, baby - that's where the similarity ends! Named after the Grande Chartreuse monastery in the Chartreuse Mountains, Green Chartreuse is made from 130 herbal extracts and has a lovely spicy flavor. It blends well with the juniper berry essence of the gin and gets a subtle sweetness from the Maraschino Liqueur.
You'll have to watch the kick from this one, Green Chartreuse is 110 proof - about 55 percent alcohol, plus you have the gin and the Maraschino liqueur to add to the party so don't be a real April Fool and drink too many!
