My Winner's Circle Kentucky Derby Martini is a nutty, bourbon based chocolate martini that is a first place winner of martinis! If you love chocolate and are a big horse racing fan you're going to love my Winner's Circle Kentucky Derby Martini.
Inspired by the Kentucky Derby Pie, a famous chocolate nut pie created in 1950 by the Melrose Inn owners, Walter and Leaudra Kern. This luscious pie was trademarked DERBY-PIE® in 1969 by the Kern family and you can still get that top secret, original pie today.
If you've never had one of these you're missing one of the great desserts of all time! I had one nearly 20 years ago when I went to a Kentucky Derby party and I've never forgotten that pie! I order at least one a year - for the Kentucky Derby race, of course!
I took those flavors and translated them into a drinkable version for cocktail and race horse fans everywhere. I know that the Mint Julep is more often associated with the Kentucky Derby but for me the Kentucky Derby Pie was what stood out in my memories! So enjoy this drinkable version and be sure to don your Derby Hats for the KENTUCKY DERBY held every May at Churchill Downs!
