THE LICORICE STICK MARTINI
April 12th is National Licorice Day!
Ingredients: Vodka, Romana Black Sambuca, Black Licorice Stick
There is always a reason to celebrate with a martini and on April 12th that reason is National Licorice Day. That is, of course, if you must have an excuse to enjoy a martini!
Licorice Root has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries and today health advocates claim it can aid in the treatment of Herpes, Cirrhosis of the liver, hepatitis, arthritis, PMS, menopause and hypoglycemia. It is also know to be of use as a laxative and a diuretic.
Of course, that licorice you're eating is more likely flavored with anise than licorice root but you still get that great licorice flavor!
Whether it's flavored with licorice root or anise, licorice is a fun new taste to add to Happy Hour and the Romana Black Sambuca adds just that little touch of black to this martini, bringing in some character and color to complement the black licorice stick you're using for a swizzle stick!
