PEACH SOUR MARTINI - A rum and peach cocktail

THE PEACH SOUR MARTINI
First it's sour and then it's sweet

Ingredients: Light Rum, Peach Schnapps, Peach Juice, Peach Slices

This Peach Sour Martini is a great way to use fresh peaches and it's a wonderful summery drink that refreshes on hot days. The addition of the sweet and sour keeps it from being too sweet and balances nicely with the fresh peach flavor. I made my own fresh peach juice too so I got a double whammy of that wonderful flavor.

The Peach Sour Martini is loosely based on a peach daiquiri cocktail - daiquiris were really popular in the sixties and seventies and were almost always served "frozen". The term "frozen" in cocktail lingo means the ingredients are blended with ice until they reach the slushy level.

My sister, Patty, loved daiquiris and I remember getting to taste one when I was still a little kid. I thought it was pretty good - probably because I loved slushies, maybe known better today as slurpees.

That little tumbler of my sister's daiquiri was my first taste of a cocktail so I shall always consider Patty to be the inspiration for my fascination with all things happy hour. It was the same day she caught me playing with a music box of hers that played "Love Letters" by Pat Boone. So, either she was trying to get me sick or she had forgiven me for my trespass, either way it was my first step towards becoming The Martini Diva and I have my sister to thank for it.
