THE POMEGRANATE-TINI POPSICLE MARTINI
A great way to cool down on those dog days of summer!
Ingredients: Pomegranate Vodka, Pomegranate Juice, Grenadine, Lemon Juice
On a very, very hot summer day I wanted a martini so cold that I joked I needed a Martini Popsicle. Then I realized there was no reason I couldn't have a martini popsicle!
The whole key to freezing your martinis is to lower the alcohol content. Alcohol will not freeze at normal home refrigeration temperatures so if your martini is too high in alcohol content you might get a slushy (a great way to make Martini Granitas!) but you won't get a popsicle.
I've found the magic ratio is about 4 ounces of mix to 2 tablespoons of alcohol. You can add a small splash of another liquor but not too much or you might end up with too high an alcohol content.
Then you simply mix up your martini and pour it into a mold of some kind and partially freeze so you can insert your popsicle sticks, then continue to freeze your martini pops until frozen! I've used shot glasses for my Pomegranate-Tini Popsicles in the photo below - btw, if you very close you'll see that I dipped the popsicle on the plate in chocolate "magic shell" - that chocolate coating that solidifies when it hits something very cold, like ice cream or popsicles!
I used some basic plastic martini picks here but found the popsicle likes to slide around on them so I suggest you use wooden sticks or skewers instead.
You can pretty much turn any cocktail into a popsicle if you get your alcohol ratio down low enough! Have some fun and experiment with some of your favorites here on The Martini Diva. You can use any popsicle mold as well as dixie cups and shot glasses and if you use shot glasses you can serve them right in the mold!
