The whole martini lifestyle is one of elegance of a time gone by - think Bogey & Bacall, Film Noir, slinky cocktail dresses, sexy spies in tuxedos - does plastic go with that? Crystal glasses - even better!

CHILL OUT - A Cold Martini is a Happy Martini

Chill your glass!
I chill my martini glasses in the freezer. You can also fill the glass with ice, that sits there while your getting your martini ready and chills the glass.

Chill your ingredients where possible.

Chill your martini shaker.

The colder everything is to start the longer your martini will stay happy!

AVOID MARTINI MAYHEM

Organization ahead of time will keep your martini cold and also insure you don't leave out an ingredient! So - Get your Mise en place in place!

Set out your ingredients.
Prep your garnishes

THE TECHNOLOGY of MIXOLOGY
Use quality ingredients!

Like food, a good martini is made with good liquors, mixers and garnishes!

Use filtered water for your ice and use ice cubes or chunks, not crushed ice. The smaller your ice the more dilution occurs and you end up with a diluted martini!

PRESENT PRETTY

(and this goes for you guys too - chances are you're not mixing up a martini for a buddy who came over to play poker, you're mixing up a martini for a lady you're trying to impress, so don't tune this out.)

ALWAYS add a garnish even if it's just a simple twist, olive or a Maraschino cherry. Martinis are like beautiful women, they love getting jewelry!
